Places and Faces -
Series 1

David Salz of Wireworld poses next to his
top-of-the-line Gold Eclipse 5 interconnects ($1495 per pair).

In addition to displaying all of its audio and
video cables, Wireworld was giving away copies of its Cable Comparator Disc to
showgoers. In addition to various documents and pieces of marketing literature, this disc
contains a single musical selection that's played back via a "direct connection"
and with various one-meter cables presumably in the mastering signal path. These include a
number of Wireworld cables as well as models from various competitors.

Acoustic Innovations brought the theater
experience to CEDIA via its elaborate booth that included a number of cushy chairs tired
showgoers were eager to demo.

A major portion of CEDIA was housed in the RCA
Dome, which was entered through this airlock door that seemingly rotated with a force
strong enough to crush you if you didn't keep moving.

Panel-speaker manufacturer Final prominently
displayed working prototypes that were literally works of art.

The virtual Mark Markel was telling visitors
to the Analysis Plus booth about
Hollow Oval geometry and Solo Crystal wire.

Cutesy novelty characters have made their way
to CEDIA. These two were making the rounds in the main exhibit area.

Doug Schneider decided to stay in his Ottawa
nest and not cover CEDIA this year, so in his honor we took these pictures of Canadian
geese foraging for food in the parking lot across from our hotel. |
