Energy debuted its updated Veritas i line, which includes two
floorstanding speakers, a single minimonitor, a center-channel speaker, and surrounds.
Pictured above are the Veritas V2.4i five-way (left, $4000 per pair) and V2.2i three-way
($1700 per pair).

Paradigm's Signature Servo subwoofer ($3500) looked gorgeous in a
glossy walnut finish. The sub's 15" driver is powered by an amplifier that outputs
1200 watts as measured by FTC standards, which are more stringent than RMS standards. This
super subwoofer will begin shipping in 60 days.

Another new super subwoofer is the Revel
Ultima Sub 30 ($6000), whose looks mirror perfectly those of Revel Ultima Gem, Studio and
Salon speakers.

Denon had two new universal A/V players on
display, making their current line of three such players the most extensive we know of. On
top is the DVD-2200 ($600), and below it is the DVD-5900 ($2000).

The new Marantz DV6400 ($599) is a
budget-priced universal A/V player that does not convert DSD to PCM.

One final universal A/V player: Theta's new
Compli ($4200), which is also billed as a transport and has the TosLink, coax, BNC, and
AES/EBU outputs to prove it.

The first Mark Levinson product to appear
after the company's move to Bedford, MA is the No.320S preamp ($7995), which has a full
complement of single-ended and balanced inputs and outputs. |
