Norah Jones, the jazz world's answer to
Britney Spears and J.Lo, goes down in the high-end-audio history books along with
Jennifer Warnes, Diana Krall, and Enya as Most Overused Musician for Demo at a High-End
Show, and receives the first-ever combined award for Most Overused Demo Material in Audio and
Video Systems. We're talking, of course, about the 2002 CD release Come Away with Me and
the new DVD Live in New Orleans. CD demos came off fine for the most part;
however, in the case of the New Orleans DVD, every exhibitor we saw who used it
ignored the fact that it's a full-screen image (4:3 ratio) and played it in widescreen
instead. You've heard that the camera adds 10 pounds -- how about 25 or 30! Poor Norah
would be pulling her hair out if she saw how bloated her face looked on so many
high-resolution video displays. |
