Last year the Audio Physic Kronos loudspeaker
was a prototype, but it impressed us enough that we gave it a Standout Room nod. The company says that the Kronos
(49,000 € per pair) is now one week away from production, and the sound in the
room this year, as Doug Schneider put it, was "quite spectacular." Driven by
Audio Physic Mono amplifiers (15,000 € per pair), Pre preamplifier
(10,000 € per pair), and an Audio Aero Capitole Mk II CD player
(7500 €) -- all strung together together with WireWorld cabling -- the system
sounded effortless and as large as life. Jeff Fritz was heard to say, "Now, once you
hear a really good big speaker like that, don't you just want it?" |
