Playing at real-life levels with opera and
rave-approved levels with electronica, Meadowlark Audio's Blue Heron 2 speakers
($12,000/pair) were driven by the large Rogue Audio Zeus dual-mono stereo amp ($6000),
which uses a dozen KT88s. The preamp was also from Rogue Audio, the 99 Magnum ($2000),
with the source being a BAT VK-D5 CD player. Cables were from Acoustic Zen: Silver
Reference II interconnects, Hologram II speaker cables, and Gargantua power cords.
EchoBusters were also in liberal use. Doug Schneider commented on this system's
"exceptional dynamics and clarity." Did we mention that it could play loud and
without strain too? |
