Germany's Adam Professional Audio is best
known in the pro-audio world -- no surprise there. They tell us that The Lord of the
Rings: The Return of the King had its soundtrack mixed through their speakers. In
Munich the company demonstrated new consumer-based models that included the
bookshelf-sized Compact, priced at 1764 per pair (photo left, on stand); the
GTC 10, priced at 2080 per pair (photo left, on floor); and the floorstanding
Pencil, priced at 3024 per pair.

There is also an Adam Center center-channel
speaker priced at 1365 . All the Adam speakers use a ribbon tweeter.

Opera Audio showed the new Consonance
Reference 150 stereo hybrid integrated amplifier that uses one 6H30 triode tube. It is
said to produce 120Wpc. It costs 1800 .

Denmark's Dali had such a brightly lit room
that the high-gloss finishes on the company's speakers produced quite a reflection. On the
left are the new Helicon 800 floorstander and Helicon 300 monitor priced at 6200
and 2700 per pair, respectively. On the right is the Helicon 400, priced at 4400
per pair. All models use a ribbon tweeter.

Lehmann Audio showed the new Black Cube Linear
headphone amplifier/single-source preamp. Norbert Lehmann says that the unit uses a
high-grade ALPS volume control and is available in black or silver anodized finishes. The
price is 700 .
