Daily Coverage Highlights

Saturday, April 3 -- Part 2

All prices are quoted in US dollars unless otherwise noted.

We weren't convinced that the effect of the Algolith Mosquito 3D MPEG noise reducer (on top of monitor, $4995 CDN) improved the picture, but there certainly was a difference. Can you tell which image has been processed?

The Thorens TD-850 comes with a Rega RB300 tonearm for $2995 CDN. Thorens turntables are now distributed in Canada by VMAX Services. [www.vmax-services.com]

The new Wilson Benesch Curve ($11,500 CDN/pair) has a beautifully finished curved carbon-fiber cabinet. It sounded very good as part of an all-analog system.

Wadia's 302 Series 3 CD player ($4450) comes with the company's digital volume control. Yes, you can switch that display off too.

Rogue Audio's Stereo 90 amp takes the place of the company's 88, which has been discontinued. The Stereo 90 uses KT88 or 6550 output tubes along with a single 6SN7 and 12AX7 to produce 200Wpc.

Song Audio's SA-1 preamp ($3600) will be reviewed on SoundStage! very soon. It was shown in Montreal with its more common greenish acrylic faceplates and with these all-chrome alternatives. [www.songaudio.com]
