Every CEDIA raises the question, "What's
the best-looking video display you've seen?" Our vote this year goes to the Texas
Instruments 1080p DLP demo, which simply looked the most like film. TI first demonstrated
a single-chip projector with some standard material. This was followed by a
rear-projection TV and capped off by the amazing three-chip DLP 1080p projector using
clips from Sin City, Madagascar and Kill Bill: Vol. 1. We both
felt that the three-chip projection system was the finest video image we've ever seen,
bettering even Sony's professional projector that was in use nearby. You can expect to see
TI's three-chip technology in various products by year's end.
