Series 4

Sony's LocationFree TV impressed us at last
year's CEDIA. It streams video content in wireless fashion, allowing you to carry your TV
around your house and watch it where you are, not where the TV is placed.

This year Sony has introduced a more robust
system, the LF-X11 ($1500) that includes a larger monitor and expanded range. The LF-X11
system includes a Base Station and 12.1" TFT SVGA LCD touch-panel monitor. The
optional Location Free Player Pak ($350) includes a Base Station and software that turn a
properly equipped PC into a LocationFree TV receiver.

Also from Sony is the VPL-VW100 projector
($10,000), which uses SXRD technology developed for Sony's Qualia 004 projector. The
VPL-VW100 uses three SXRD panels and offers 1920 x 1080 HD resolution.

Energy introduced two complete speaker lines
at CEDIA: Reference Connoisseur and the less expensive
C Series shown above. The entire C Series line comprises three minimonitors, two
floorstanders, two center-channel speakers, and one surround speaker. All use composition
fiberglass midrange/bass drivers. Prices range from $150 per pair for the C-50 to $700 per
pair for the C-500 -- conspicuously high value, we thought. [www.energy-speakers.com]

...Denon's S-301 all-in-one player/receiver,
which is part of the company's S-301 ($1599) and S-101 ($999) 2.1-channel
home-entertainment systems. CD, HDCD, DVD and SACD playback are standard, as is iPod
connectivity.

Known for its paperback-book-sized mono
digital amplifiers, Flying Mole has decided to create an even smaller preamp, the
PA-S1,...

...and the CA-S3 stereo integrated amp. The
28-ounce PA-S1 has three inputs (including for MM/MC phono), while CA-S3 outputs 20Wpc and
weighs a mere 3 pounds. Both will be available in January; pricing has not yet been
announced.
