Infinity's Cascade series features distinctively styled speakers that use flat, rectangular MRS (Maximum Radiating Surface) drivers. The MRS driver, which has a ceramic and metal diaphragm, is said to achieve uniform on- and off-axis dispersion.

Prices range from $699 to $999 each for the speakers, with the powered subwoofer costing $1499.

McIntosh debuted its MC2KW amplifiers, each of which consists of three massive chassis. The amps can deliver 2000 watts into 8-, 4- or 2-ohm loads.

The MC2KW costs $30,000 each.

Also new from McIntosh is the XRT2K speaker ($40,000 each), which uses six 12" woofers, 64 2" inverted-dome midrange drivers and 40 3/4" titanium-dome tweeter per speaker. McIntosh paired the MC2KW amp and XRT2K speaker with the new C1000 three-box preamp ($26,000) and MCD201 CD/SACD player ($3000) to produce surprisingly good sound right on the Convention Center floor.
