ELAC continues to impress us with fantastic
sound. Last year the company's FS 608-4P loudspeakers (12.000 € per pair),
along with a host of Accustic Arts electronics, made the cut as one of our Standout
Rooms. This year? More of the same. The soon-to-be-released FS 609 X-PI
sounded detailed and airy driven by Burmester electronics. We heard a fantastic sense of
space, perhaps due to the speaker's unique high-frequency driver. Whatever the reason, if
you like a system with highs to die for and spaciousness galore, hear this setup. The rest
of it consisted of the Burmester 001 CD player (9990 €), the 007
preamp-processor (24.900 €), and the 039 multichannel amplifier
(11,600 €). Kimber Kable cabling rounded things out.
