The Gershman Acoustics Black Swan ($36,000) is
a four-piece speaker system whose bass module is fully decoupled from the tweeter/midrange
unit and allows for a certain amount of time alignment. It will soon be patented. Silver
wire is used internally.

Rogue Audio's new Metis preamp ($995 USD;
remote control adds $100) looks to be a budget-buyer's dream with its tubes, headphone
output, and phono stage...,

...as does the new Atlas amplifier ($1395
USD), which uses EL34s to deliver 55Wpc. A Cronus integrated amplifier ($1795) that
combines the two units will also be available.

The Immersive Simmetry is a universal A/V
player, video scaler and surround-sound processor all in one. It sounded very good as a
two-channel source. The price is $10,000.

Arcam's SOLO ($1995) packs in even more
functionality than the Immersive Simmetry: CD playback, 50Wpc stereo power, complete
preamp functionality, DAB and FM tuning, multizone control, and an alarm clock. Tone
controls, a dot-matrix display and full remote-control capabilities for other zones and
products are also included.

Need a lot of power? The Musical
Fidelity kW 750 power amp ($12,000) has an outboard power supply and reportedly delivers
"over 750Wpc" of power and 250 amps of peak current. It uses 20 output devices
per channel.
