One constant at the CES in January was the use of Kubala-Sosna cables in many great-sounding systems. At Son & Image, this trend continued, with Kubala-Sosna Emotion interconnects and speaker cables used in conjunction with various Kharma products. A pair of Kharma CRM 3.2 FE speakers ($21,000 USD per pair) along with a Kharma CsSb powered subwoofer ($9500 USD) and Kharma MP-150 mono amps ($6800 USD per pair) were used with a Nagra PL-L preamp, Zanden Model 5000 Mk II DAC, CEC TL-1X transport, and TAOC AS-series rack to produce delicate, transparent, tonally accurate sound in a small demonstration space. The sub was perfectly integrated -- an exceedingly rare feat under show conditions. Ultra Audio's Ross Mantle thought this system was the best he heard at Son & Image, including the mega-bucks setups in the big rooms. Kubala-Sosna does it again.
