Thursday, January 9 -- Series 2

Mirage introduced a smaller OMNISAT speaker,
appropriately named the OMNISAT Micro (left, $180/each). It's shown here with the original
OMNISAT -- its smaller size should allow even more placement options. [www.miragespeakers.com]

Danish loudspeaker manufacturer Dynaudio
displayed its updated Contour series, which includes the S 5.4 ($8000/pair) shown in an
attractive rosewood finish. Also in the line are the floorstanding S 3.4 ($5000/pair) and
bookshelf S 1.4 ($2800/pair) speakers. For the home-theater enthusiast, the Contour series
also includes the S C center-channel and S R surround speakers (prices to be announced).

Green Mountain Audio's funky-looking Continuum
1.5 ($4900/pair) features cast-marble midrange and tweeter enclosures. Its sound was sweet
and focused.

Atlantic Technology displayed the modular
System 8200 speaker system: The 8200 LR modules ($2600/pair) are mounted on top of the
8200 Pedestal subwoofer modules ($3600 including subwoofer amplifier). The systems shown
are in optional finishes, of which several are available at various prices.

Groovy! Blueroom introduced a new member to
its family. The Cinepod center-channel speaker (on table, $399) is available in just about
every primary color as well as black, white, and silver. It is shown here with other
speakers in the Blueroom lineup and the company's powered subwoofer.

Energy debuted the new Connoisseur C-C3
speaker ($600 each), which offers unusual flexibility in that it can be placed either
vertically or horizontally. [www.energy-speakers.com]

Krell introduced a new speaker line, deemed
the Resolution Series, which consists of five models: the RS-1 floorstanding three-way,
(left, $9500/pair), the slightly smaller RS-2 (right, $7500/pair), the bookshelf-sized
RS-3 ($3500/pair), the RS-C center-channel speaker ($3000), and the RS-S subwoofer (shown,
$4500). The entire line draws from the LAT series, differing primarily in the use of
wooden cabinets in place of the brushed-aluminum finish.

Krell also showed its first SACD player, the
SACD Standard ($4000), which is styled similarly to the KAV series of components and will
be available in either silver or black finishes.

Flown over specifically for CES, Roksan's brand-new
Radius 5 turntable (approximately $1000 including unipivot tonearm) could do nothing but
catch the eyes of passersby.
