The Musical Surroundings room, which featured
ESP Concert Grand SI speakers ($40,000 per pair), produced the sort of sweet and spacious
sound that makes audiophiles swoon, no doubt due to some top-flight analog playback. Also
part of this system were Pathos InPower 80W class-A mono amps ($13,000 per pair);
Aesthetix Callisto Signature line-stage preamp ($11,000) and Io Signature phono stage
($9000); Clearaudio Maximum Solution turntable ($12,000), Master TQ1 tonearm ($7000) with
Goldfinger phono cartridge ($8000); Graham Phantom B-44 tonearm with Koetsu Onyx Platinum
Diamond cartridge; CRL cables; Running Springs power devices; and Solidsteel amp stands.
The glossy finish of the stout Harmonic Resolution Systems equipment rack also used
matched the veneer of the speakers perfectly and certainly contributed to the exceptional
sound.
